I'm pretty sure Chuck is correct here that the responsiveness is due
to the RACE stuff in the old scripts. I installed the 2.33 scripts
while OpenSRS was offline, and I'm seeing things very responsive on my
site.
Of course, moving the site to a new server with more ram and a
faster CPU helped also :)
