I've told this story a few times to staffers around here since I made that
post. I was going to wait until our next informal Friday banter to relate it
to the list, but since you've broken ranks Scott...

A friend of mine that I grew up with called me one night to let me know that
he was a new father. We talked for a few minutes about how he felt it had
changed his outlook on life, how incredibly small he felt and how absolutely
proud he was. I hung up the phone thinking how great things were for him and
how happy I was for him, his new wife and his newer child.

Until my wife asked me who called.

Ross: It was Jeff, they've had their baby.
Amanda: Wow. Was it a boy or a girl?
R: I don't know.
A. What did they name it?
R: I don't know.
A: When was it born, how much did it weigh?
R: I don't know.
A: Do I have to call Kim? [Jeff's wife]
R: Good idea.

Until my she asked, I really thought that I'd covered off the important
points. Apparently the details are far more interesting. ;)

The moral is, never, ever, ask me how the bride looked, how much the baby
weighed or any other important details. I like talking about the small
things ;)

PS - any name/s yet Scott?
