Hi Sergio,

This could be any one of a number of problems. The change you made, almost
certainly, has been propagated through the name servers.

>> Server is up and running, but we still cannot ping it from
>> the different DNS servers.

Whether or not you can ping the server has nothing to do with whether it's
been registered as a name server. Also, registering the host name
(ns1.miacom.net) as a name server does nothing to resolve it to an IP
address. You still need to have an 'A' record in the miacom.net zone for
ns1 resolving it to the proper IP address.

Can you ping the machine using just the IP address? If so, then at least
you know that connectivity is OK (FWIW I can successfully ping the
209.236.19.24 address you gave). I can also ping ns1.miacom.net, if that's
of any value. Can you ping using the hostname? If not, check to be sure
ns1 is properly configured in miacom.net. It's entirely possible that
you're accessing a DNS server that's cached the wrong answer...

Give us some more detail on what's not working, and perhaps we can suggest
other things to check.

Regards,
Eric Longman

Subject: Cannot register DNS

Hi

I have a problem with registering DNS server.
I sent topic like this two days ago, and got a lot of answers (thanks for
all) that it should be almost instantly :o)
(24-48 hours)

Ok here is the my story.
I have a name which is registered already for 3 years. It was transferred to
openSRS like 5-6 month ago.
Now we need to run our own DNS. So, we add record dns1.trainingname.com and
IP 209.236.19.24.
In 5 hours we changed this name to dns1.miacom.net and left like this for 3
days.
But without any success. So, I changed this name to ns1.miacom.net at
yesterday morning.

Server is up and running, but we still cannot ping it from the different DNS
servers.

The questions is, maybe I massed something up when changed the name of this
DNS.

Any answers are appreciated
