It appears the domain was just renewed at the losing registrar. If you transfer within 45 days of the expiration date, the registry will do the following: 1) Automatically REFUND the year back to the losing registrar (i.e. remove the year from the domain). 2) Automatically add one year to the domain and charge the gaining registrar. So the losing registrar owes you a refund for the year that they were paid for but you never received.
