Just for the sake of argument...

They may be pricing it deliberately high to minimize things like:
speculation, hoarding (and whoring), spamming w/throw-away domains,
cheap porn portals, aftermarket interests and all the other sundry
riff-raff that comes with cheap and plentiful domain names.

But having said that I don't think they'll see very many.
