Hi,

I was wondering if this was still a planned feature, to prevent
tranfers (like eNom has). When one wants to enable a transfer, one can
toggle the protection off, to let it go through [by default, it should
be off, in order to require a positive action to enable it], with the
proper verification at the gaining/losing registrars.

Given the number of high profile domains in the OpenSRS system (e.g.
GM.com, EDS.com, Oracle.com), one hijacking of such a name would be bad
publicity (even if they got the name back, the disruption to systems
would be pretty bad). My background is in risk management (although
maybe it's just unfounded paranoia! ;) ), but I'd sleep better at night
knowing that domain assets are well protected.

Another item for the wishlist: a clone of the SnapNames "SnapShot"
domain monitoring service would be cool (but only for OpenSRS names).
This would be neat to have on a reseller basis, so that we can tell if
a domain under management has changed in any way. Since it would be at
the registrar level, it can be real-time (I think the SnapShot service
is only once a week?). It can also advise one of transfers, i.e. if the
domain suddenly gets stolen. I like the way Snapnames has secondary and
tertiary email addresses in their database as backups (which are sent
duplicate notices) -- might be a good thing to keep in mind when
enhancing the system.

As an aside, has anyone played with NameEngine.com's "Central Station"
(see: http://www.nameengine.com/centralstation/features.html )? It
seems very snazzy, and good for corporations (now that they've been
bought by Verisign, I wonder if it will be adopted by them, or if it
will just die a slow death....).

Sincerely,

George Kirikos
