Just so I'm clear here...

I get lots of fake invoices from "Domain Registry of Canada" who are no doubt
the same entity as "Domain Registry of America". Is this not the same group
that were operating under the name "Internet Registry of Canada" (iroc.ca) who
turned out (if memory serves me correctly) to be an OpenSRS reseller? They got
their wrists slapped for including a Canadian flag in their logo making their
invoices look like they were coming from some government agency. (This of
course seemed plausible due to CIRA's insistence that they harrass our clients
directly on many issues.) Then we all had to endure 100's of identical emails
from CIRA warning about these people because CIRA can't implement any sort of
listserve.

Anyway I just checked iroc.ca and it does take you to the website for domain
registry of canada so that question is answered. I guess I wanted to be sure
that if they are an eNOM affiliate that they don't still use OpenSRS as well.
There might be some perception that the practices of one authorized RSP are the
same as all RSPs.

I figure that given the cost on stamps, printing and other costs in Canada,
they only need to sell one domain transfer in 50 solicitations to break even.
There is another group in Canada called expiry.com who seems to spam potential
clients via fax. They also create a large degree of confusion in the minds of
uninitiated.

It's sort of funny when I get renewal notices from them I just use them as
reminders to check that the domains are correct in our internal database and
touch base with the clients to ensure they don't get fooled with scammers. Not
a bad reason to use as an excuse to get in touch with clients you haven't
talked to in a while.
