That would be me. :) Backup, backup, backup (after losing 2 weeks of work a few years ago when a hard disk crashed, I learned my lesson). I think it got Slashdotted, or there was a huge traffic surge when it appeared in The Register (still trying to get them to update the link in their story at http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/32933.html -- if anyone knows a way faster that writing to the editors/author, which I did, give it a shot -- http://www.whois.sc/verisign-dns/ should be able to handle a lot more traffic, from what I've been told). My own webserver showed some strange activity (high traffic in the MRTG graphs), which mysteriously went away when the old petition site lost all the data and went down to 178.....so, it could have been a DoS attack?? With all the new viruses and SSH/Sendmail exploits, it could be unrelated, but the *timing* seems too close to be a coincidence. Perhaps like the Cadbury Caramilk Secret, it shall remain a puzzle for the ages..... ;) Sincerely, George Kirikos http://www.kirikos.com/
