It all depends on the TLD of the domain that you are changing. Each registry
publishes to the Root servers at different intervals.

.com and .net are twice daily (12pm & 12am) so the standard 24-48 hour
propagation line still applies, however there is some interesting news on
this topic in the coming months.

The newer gTLD's (biz, info) average 2-5 mins before they publish to the
zone so you will see changes reflected much more quickly for these domains.

One of the benefits of the .org migration to EPP is that it also reflects
DNS changes more quickly (along the same timeframes as .biz and .info)
