Early this morning, we experienced a failure of virus filtering
functionality on the email servers. This failure was not related to the
maintenance performed on the system. Mail processing stopped and inbound
and outbound mail delivery was delayed for four hours. No mail was lost.
Once the problem was
corrected all mail was filtered and delivered. There was no impact on the
Email
Defense Service.

We apologize for failing to correctly reflect this on the system status
page.

There was also a delay in the delivery of emergency support requests.
Please continue to use the form located at http://precow.tucows.com/.emerg/
to request
support. If there is a delay in receiving support please use the telephone
number that can be found on the same page to send a second request for
support.

Sincerely,
Bruce Dorland
Product Manager

Subject: Email Service - False Committments and No Responses

It is frustrating to notice the poor standard of services being rendered by
Tucows in email related services.

There are many issues - but I can talk about others later. Most recent one
here is reg the recent email maintenance issues.

1.) In the notice it was said Sunday 12th Decemeber
Sunday was not on 12th, 12th was actually Tuesday. This point was
raised by one user but was never clarified if the maintenance would take
place on 12th or Tuesday. (14th)

2.) The maintenance window was scheduled for 2.5 hrs. Inspite of lapse of 6
Hrs (as I write this) the mail services were not restored. Does TUCOWS not
realize the importance of mail in the present business world using email as
most common medium of communication?

3.) Fasle reporting - The system status page everything to be normal (email
related) this is absolutely false (as of 10:30 UTC, Dec 14th, 2004)

4.) Inspite of writing to their emergency contact (is the emergency contact
not applicable to emails???) there was no response. (Poor service
standards - such shabby services are offered by many novices - then why care
to choose Tucows?)

5.) There are other issues which are not of emergency nature but reflects
poor standards of tucows services for Email and Email Defense. (I do
understand both are provided by different agencies, but for us - provider is
same)

Your views please? and any remarks from Tucows?
