Right.  I'm pointing multiple hostnames to the same IPs using A records. 
This used not to be supported by the registries, apparently I missed a
memo.

I'm using this system in legacy .us locality based domains.  It's a
non-automated , pulling teeth type thing to get any modifications done,
so I use hostnames I can quickly change locally instead of registered
nameservers.

Now I can have both.
