This is why I went with Ubuntu, actually Xubuntu (XFCE desktop environment by 
default.)  It simply worked right out of the box, configured everything 
including the printer.  The only thing I had to do manually on the laptop was 
to configure the wireless interface to look for the network information (SSID).
