We have had a great experience with Samba, but perhaps have not stretched its capabilities. It is inconvenient that the password hashes are different, but we live with that. What is the alternative? I'd like to convert all the clients to Linux, but short of that how does one mount Unix storage on Windows PCs? Is the MS Gateway for NFS better? Do you have experience with it? but I have never heard of anyone using it. I don't see that it makes permission or username mapping any easier.
