That's not what I inferred from "It is, however, not difficult to have a USB device reset itself and then change its answer when re-initialized." Designing a device to do that may be trivial; converting a device that doesn't into one that does might not be. Regardless, my quick perusal of how the BadUSB code works indicates that it does not do anything of the sort. It's an all or nothing change.
