JOB DESCRIPTION Cimpress, the parent company of Vistaprint, has an opening for mid-level Linux developer on the Learning & Knowledge Management team, which I direct. The ideal candidate should enjoy some combination of coding, system administration, technical writing, and teaching. But most of all, you should get job satisfaction by helping other people to be more productive. (Example: automating someone else's difficult tasks.) Our main LAMP work is done within MediaWiki, WordPress, and Moodle on Ubuntu systems, running within VMware and AWS, and we heavily use Puppet, Hiera, and Git. Team members over the years have had a wide variety of backgrounds, ranging from self-taught coders to PhDs, coming from diverse fields like biology, economics, chemical engineering, business, pharmacy, and music. REQUIRED SKILL-SET - 3+ years' experience developing Linux software in any of the following languages: PHP, Python, Ruby, Perl - 3+ years' experience developing and debugging client-side web applications (JavaScript, jQuery, Firebug, Chrome developer tools, etc.) - Solid knowledge of mySQL or other database platforms - Solid knowledge of Apache, Nginx, or other webserver platforms - Experience using Git or other version control systems - Experience with Puppet, Hiera, or other configuration management platforms - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with clients and creating documentation. - Other desirable/optional skills: Kerberos & SSO, LDAP, MediaWiki development, C# development JOB TYPE Permanent position, full time, in Waltham, MA.
