If you just put the cursor somewhere then Close without saving, the cursor position is not remembered. If you have to Save on Closing, then it will be remembered, otherwise the position remembered will be where it was when the document is last Saved. Of course, by default, you cannot Save a document that has not been modified, but you can change that in Tools > Options... > General. If you do change that option, and remember to Save before Close, then you will go back to the last page even if you were just viewing it and providing you moved the cursor to it as well. I think that is the definitive answer, but I will stand corrected, if it is not.
