I actually think the two could serve different purposes - the forum can be
more purpose-driven/action-oriented than transient email. It will provide a
user-friendly location for much more asynchronous communication.

I'd be in favor of two mediums for two messages, especially under the
auspices of Driscoll's month-long experiment.
