Word from one of the event organizers: "the $50 registration fee is waived for all members of student societies, activist groups, and other civil society organizations, so I/A is actually free for any SFC members that would like to attend."
So if you're in the area, go! If not, get travel funding from your school and then go! Drop me a line if you want some advice for how to do that.
