Hi all! As at least a few of you know, the Wikimedia Foundation is starting a Wikipedia Amabassador Program, which (in part) involves working with professors who want to incoprate Wikipedia editing into their courses. We trained a first cohort of Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors for the Fall 2010 term to give in-class presentations to teach students the basics of Wikipedia and facilitate communication between the professors and the Wikipedia community (including the Online Ambassadors, experienced Wikipedians who serve as mentors for students and help them on-wiki and through other online means).
We're in the process of recruiting professors and Campus Ambassadors for the Spring 2011 term right now. And we thought schools with strong SFC connections would be great ones to focus on. For this pilot project, we're looking specifically for courses related to U.S. public policy (broadly construed). So if you know professors at your school who fit the bill and you think might want to work with us, and/or if you are interested in becoming a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, please let me know. You can read more about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Ambassadors (Also, on freenode, #wikipedia-outreach ) Cheers, Sage Ross Online Facilitator, Public Policy Initiative Wikimedia Foundation _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://freeculture.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss FAQ: http://wiki.freeculture.org/Fc-discuss
