Freeculturites!

In thinking about how to keep up the energy after our rockin' conference
last weekend, I just wanted to riff a little more about what I meant when I
said at the conclusion of the unconference about how this is your
organization.

One thing that came up in the board meeting on unconference day is that
we're really hoping to get more volunteers at the global level. We're
working on setting up specific opportunities for that--but don't feel like
you have to wait for commands from us. If there's something that you are
good at or something that you'd like to get involved with (planning the next
conference, connecting with and welcoming new chapters, creating "event in a
box" packages to send out to chapters, bringing back the "core team" of
global organization volunteers with regular meetings, writing activism
recipes and distributing them to chapters)--do it! Let us know how you think
we can help, and we'll probably offer some additional insights based on
institutional history. If you just want to say "I'm interested in helping
out at the national level!" that would rock too.

It's very clear to me from the energy as well as the solid ideas and
discussion at the conference that our chapters--new and old--have some great
insights that will help us take Students for Free Culture to the next level.
Jump in! Don't ask us for permission--ask us for help. Because this is your
organization.
