The short answer is, yes. No detailed knowledge of copyright issues is
required. In most cases, a journal is either all-rights-reserved or
uses a specific standard CC license. You can just browse their website
and look at any info they have about author guidelines or submission
or copyright & licensing, and it will almost always have the answer. A
few cases are more complicated, but it's fine to leave things blank or
just add free text explanation if it doesn't fit the normal
categories.

At this point, we're still pretty much exploring the problem space. We
started from a very, very incomplete list and we're basically getting
that into good shape to figure out what the format should be, what
information is feasible to include, and how best to tabulate the data
we want to include. Just post on the talk page if you find something
that doesn't seem to fit; those are useful data points for figuring
out how to structure all this, so that we can eventually do as much as
possible in automated or semi-automated fashion.
