Hello,

Is there anyone who is interested in speaking on a panel workshop about
Free Culture and Open Education at reRoute with me on Sunday, July 21st
from 11am-12:30pm? The panel will be about the Free Culture movement more
generally, the types of advocacy folks/chapters in the movement, and what
people can do to foster student involvement. Let me know asap if you're
interested!!

Many thanks,
Jen

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks so much for reaching out. We'd actually recently been discussing
the notable absence of free culture programming in our schedule, a glaring
omission. What's more, you have impeccable timing. We actually just had
one of our workshops fall through at the last moment which means that we
have an open slot on Sunday morning July 21 from 11:00-12:30. If you're
interested in filling that spot we'll need you to act fairly quickly.

First, we'll need a short description of the workshop as well as brief (1
paragraph) bios for any of the presenters.

Second, we'll need to know if you have any special needs for your workshop.
The room your in doesn't come with a projector set up and it would cost us
considerable extra to be able to use one. However, if you really needed it
we could have one set up. Additionally, we're happy to supply flip chart
paper or other basic supplies.

Third, we'll need each of your presenters to register for the conference so
that we can track headcount. You're entitled to up to three free
registrations for your presenters using the promo code "justandsustainable"
(that said, if your presenters or organization can afford the registration
fee it would really help us cover things like food and travel scholarships
for out of town youth).

Finally, if you're interested in tabling during opening registration time
on Friday you should get in touch with Emma Beals (cc'd) as soon as
possible. We've been asking tabling organizations to make a $75
contribution to our crowd-funding
campaign<http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-young-leaders-attend-a-summit-on-building-a-just-and-sustainable-economy>but
if that isn't possible we may still be able to work something out.

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

All the best,

Dear Cheyenna,

I am writing on behalf of the Free Culture Alliance in New York City,
representing a coalition of individuals and organizations interested
in the Free Culture movement, Open Education, and related developments
in the boundaries of technology, culture, community and the commons.
The free culture and free software movements focus heavily on student
engagement and empowerment, and we think it would be great to have our
perspectives represented at the reRoute Conference this year.

I understand that this is very last minute. I was only made aware of
this conference from a program manager at Creative Commons a few days
ago, but I thought it could be worth it to reach out to you and see if
we could host a workshop session on Free Culture, technology policy,
digital rights, free and open source software, open access to
educational resources, and other related topics. Such topics are
critical as students and digital natives become more heavily immersed
with technology. Please let me know if this is a possibility and if
you have any questions or concerns. Thank you so much for your
consideration.

All the best,
Jennifer
