I'm not sure if you saw my replies on IRC a while back, but as far as the
Mailman upgrade woes you mentioned a while back go, there actually is
an upgrade
path available in 3.0 without having to wait for 3.1. You can migrate data
through an included script called Import21:

It may actually not be recommended to avoid using distribution-provided
packages for Mailman v3, even when they are available.

Kernel upgrade and Wordpress audit/upgrade are probably higher priority,
