I think if there is any bottleneck it will be on the local loop. You need to ask Covad and whoever it is that is supplying the local cable internet. I doubt the internet backbone will be affected.

Good morning,

I am hoping that you can help me find the answer to an issue of concern to many of our member companies. Many of our firms have been developing business continuity plans in the event of a avian flu pandemic. Some of plans call for individuals to work from home and telecommute. Concerns have been raised that so many people will be on line (e.g. those working at home, kids staying home because of school closures, etc.), that the internet will come screeching to a standstill. This is a huge concern with our financial services sector. Is this a realistic concern? Are we asking the right questions? Do you have anyone who could meet with a group of businesses in Stamford, Connecticut that have raised this issue. I have been unsuccessful in getting a response from various internet service providers.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Regards,

Tanya M. Court
