I'd second Tom's opinion, for we went through a similar experience. Using any of the advanced frameworks is only enticing in the short term. Getting readymade widgets like in Dojo is certainly attractive. But the flexibility we need to tweak the code is limited. So for us jquery provides a much more scalable platform than other application-ready frameworks. But then, our development methodology is affected by long term goals. If the objective was to create a working prototype with all the UI widgets thrown in, we would probably choose an application-ready framework.
