Section 508 was written to call out the fact that software companies CAN NOT ignore our disabled citizens. Even so, most do anyway. Believe me, it's MUCH easier going into a project thinking about A11y than trying to tack it on later. And if you do any work for the government or for IBM then this is moot point anyway; they won't even consider a product w/o a VPAT.
