limited (2 or 3 I think)developer edition after 30 days.

So if the trial version fully functional with no time limits for local
development?

You need a registration to download the trial, so I can't see what you
get with the trial and what happens when it ends. When I see the word
'trial' I think of an application that stops working after a set
period of time (i.e. 30 days), or losing functionality.
