first, thanks for chasing this stuff down....

actually, thinking more about this.... if this kind of allocation fails, then PowerTOP is mostly dead in the water for everythign else... and as far as I'm concerned we can just abort and exit. This isn't the kernel where memory is always low.. this is userspace where the kernel will give us memory until it really really can't... (which would imply that WE, powertop, are leaking memory, which means exting is the right thing)
