So far we've only had to update them once before we install them the first time. I know one issue with these cheaper drives is performance degradation as they reach capacity. Since ZFS uses the full device (especially l2arc) I think that could lead to issues. Does anyone format SSDs down to smaller sizes to get around this? Also, we just had to order new drives for our centos servers and the Samsung 840 Pro was the winner. Not sure if they work with Illumos, but it is worth some research.
