Well, this is typical, after optimizing I have even more kernel memory consumption.
Now it goes over 56% after ditching my slow Intel SSD on rpool booting directly from dpool and yet only using TMPDIR=/tmp for compiler, /var/tmp for out of tree pkgsrc bulkbuilds... didn't try again the atime biz yet. > richard@omnis:/home/richard$ swap -hs;echo ::memstat|pfexec mdb -k > total: 3,1G allocated + 504M reserved = 3,6G used, 49G available > Page Summary Pages MB %Tot > ------------ ---------------- ---------------- ---- > Kernel 4673604 18256 56% > ZFS File Data 2448816 9565 29% > Anon 895438 3497 11% > Exec and libs 4051 15 0% > Page cache 36430 142 0% > Free (cachelist) 32301 126 0% > Free (freelist) 294434 1150 4% > > Total 8385074 32754 > Physical 8385072 32754 and my system started hanging again, which it only did when building clang while having everything in /tmp. Is there some tuneable to free things up a bit faster? seems that the kernel should operate somewhat like zfs and coalesce free'd buffers when needed. I know I could throw another 32G of ram at things (already @32G) but it looks now like that will have to wait until after the holidays. -- Richard PALO ------------------------------------------- illumos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/182180/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/182180/21175430-2e6923be Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21175430&id_secret=21175430-6a77cda4 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
