My remaining S10_u8 system has developed an issue which is a bit hard for me to
understand.

System is setup as follows:

cxdxs0 - 3 way mirror rpool

cxdxs1 - 3 disk RAIDZ1 pool

c5d0s0 - single disk pool

A couple of months ago I developed faults on rpool. I reseated all the
connectors, ran scrubs of all file systems. Did a clear of the reported
checksum errors and reran the scrubs. Everything seemed fine. Repeated the
scrubs sometime later. Still fine.

Recently I decided to mirror c5d0s0 and got another disk. In preparation I
started a scrub on rpool. Unlike normal behavior it did not return, but seemed
to hang. On looking more closely I saw that the vdevs for rpool and the RAIDZ1
pool showed the same vdev twice.

"format -e" only shows 3 disks rather than the 4 which are installed. The BIOS
sees all the drives properly.

I've powered down the system until I can figure out a sensible strategy, but am
somewhat short of ideas. Naturally, my last backup is a bit stale, though not
seriously old. The recent work is in a small filesystem, so I can copy
everything to the single disk pool pretty quickly.

Suggestions? I could find no errors in messages. So I'm quite baffled how
this could happen.
