There has been discussion that other differentiators may existing in the
installer, and in the release management process (when binaries are actually
produced, and whether SPARC is amongst them or not), but at the moment the main
difference will be the packaging framework, yes.

Well, I liked illumian -- illumos distributed via debian technology. For the
record, I still own the trademark for "illumos", but have started the process
to move it to the conservancy.
