Annoying is the way Illumos dealt with the bug report I made in 2010.
Thhis was a real attack against the credibility of the Illumos project.

When the code was provided for a review, I took a quick look at it and
discovered 7 (IIRC) bugs within 10 minutes. So I send a short list with the
bugs to this mailing list. Garret's answer to this short review was not to ask
for more details (as people would expect) but to claim that there were no
bugs...

The most annoying bug was the fact that it was not large file clean because it
did not write address labels that include more than the lower 32 address bits.
This was a sad news in special as Garret claimed that he did a successful full
output compare with a 8 GB file with random content to the closed source Sun
version.

I provided all details in a more than 3 hour phone call to Garret D'Amore in
November 2010. To the end of that phone call, things seemed to be OK, but 3
hours later, the code was included into Illumos with just fixing the large file
bug before. So it seems that Garret ignores review results and happily adds
code with known problems.

To be honest, I don't care about Garret's "od" anymore. Since before Garret
added his code with the remaining problems, we have a faster and correct
implementation for OpenSolaris that supports both compatibility to Svr4 _and_
POSIX. The od in Illumos is noticeable slower than the code that was created by
enhancing "hdump" and the od in Illumos does not support CLI semantics from the
SVR4 version at /usr/bin/od. There is no need to care about the implementation
that currently is in Illumos.

You can get it from SchilliX-ON.

BTW: do you believe that Illumos changed since then or could the same happen
again?
