You're reading his diagnosis wrong.  He's using an mpt_sas adapter.

Right there --> that's an mpt_sas board.

He's running OI 151a8, which is one rev behind OI's current release (a9).  
There have been a LOT of mpt_sas tweaks between then and now.

I'd recommend updating to 151a9 first.
