Just a note on Samba and winbindd depending on which version you are using there was a bug in the event port handling that caused winbindd to go unresponsive. This affected 4.2 and 4.3. I got a patch upstreamed and it looks like the fix got into 4.2.12, but I don't know if any of the 4.3 releases have it in yet. I also believe, but haven't verified that it is fixed in 4.4.
The samba bug is BUG 11771.
