I am able to connect a Toshiba Canvio 3 TB disk to 151_a7 on an N40L. According to my notes it was recognized by format(1m) but I did not note if I used the "-e" option. I had a lot of fubar with ZFS alignment, which I resolved, but my notes don't provide much info :-(
I have a later note that I did a format & label w/ 151_a7 shell, but that "format -e c1d0" dumped core. Also that the LiveCD image could not see the disk, but the text installer did. I would surmise that I booted from the text installer and opened a shell. I have a vague memory, but no notes that I formatted and labeled the disk on Linux at one point and that after that OI liked it better.
