It might help to start by taking a look in the cache file to see
what's there.  I wrote a short program that will load a cache file and
dump the contents.  You can download it from:

    https://illumos.org/downloads/dumpcache/dumpcache

Make it executable and point it at the cache file; e.g.,

    odin # ./dumpcache /etc/zfs/zpool.cache
    nvlist version: 0
            zones = (embedded nvlist)
            nvlist version: 0
                    version = 0x1388
                    name = zones
                    state = 0x0
                    txg = 0x10640dd
    ...

If you want to see the source or build it yourself, I've put those
files alongside in the same directory on the server.
