I'm running 2021.04.31 on a 4 disk RAIDZ2 pool using 4 TB disks.

After considering work habits I decided to use the SSD for an L2ARC. I often
run find(1) across large parts of the filesystem looking for files, so that
should cache the directory information.

With a reconfigure boot OI found the SSD and fdisk(1m) followed by format(1m)
let me set everything up properly.

I had to run fdisk to get the "geometry" to describe the disk to format. I've
not yet configured the L2ARC. That's next. It is *way* too hot to be outside
melting aluminum cans.

Have Fun!

Depending on what other disks you have it might be best to just move the
whole OS onto it. That would give you a general performance boost.
Since it's not mirrored(from what I can deduct from your post), it would
probably be a good idea to keep important stuff(not easily
reinstallable/recoverable) on mirrored drives. And as always, have a
backup -one that actually can be used to recover from ;)
