We do detect pae at https://src.illumos.org/source/xref/illumos-gate/usr/src/uts/i86pc/dboot/dboot_startkern.c?r=3df2e8b2#2416
However, you can try booting with -B prom_debug=true,kbm_debug=true and see if anything interesting will get revealed. I do not know if bhyve does provide gdb stub - if it does, you can walk that early start code and see what goes wrong with PAE detection. And did you try both BIOS and UEFI? rgds, toomas ------------------------------------------ illumos: illumos-discuss Permalink: https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/T48bff2e3612b5ff7-M9e1aa9ee289bf4d0d997791f Delivery options: https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/subscription
