Organization Overview The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is one of the nation's leading art and design colleges enrolling over 1,300 undergraduate students in world-class facilities with superior technology resources. CCS currently has twelve undergraduate departments include Animation, Advertising Design, Graphic Design, Crafts, Fine Arts, Illustration, Interior Design, Photography, Art Education and Industrial Design. The CCS campus is located in a downtown cultural district which includes the Detroit Institute for the Arts. This location provides an urban laboratory for the study and application of design to projects in the public realm including environmental sustainability, urban infrastructure and education. Graduate Program In the fall of 2008 CCS is launching a graduate studies program which will grant Masters of Fine Art Degrees with two areas of specialization: Design and Transportation Design. The Graduates Studies program at CCS will offer a new approach to graduate design education-one based on the conviction that the most effective designers are those who have a firm grasp of the fundamentals of business and the world in which design operates. The program will integrate design, cultural and business issues in the development of commercially-oriented design solutions. The Design specialization has been developed to attract applicants with backgrounds in either 2D or 3D design. Global in outlook, it will reach out to a rich international mix of students from many countries and cultures with experience in a wide range of industries. The core design curriculum for both areas of specialization encompasses design research, interaction design and team-based, collaborative learning. Graduate students will take business courses through partnership with premier business schools, such as the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Building on CCS' strong corporate partnerships, students will participate on collaborative teams in industry-sponsored studios.
