Cloud computing raises some interesting issues for corporate governance that I don't believe have, yet, been well explored. Although I agree to a great number of benefits - particularly for smaller enterprises - at a large-scale enterprise level, and in organizations where the availability of operational infrastructure is highly critical, cloud computing will be used very tactically in the near term. The main issues I see revolve around risk assessment and management, and again, I don't mean to suggest a raft of negatives: just that the ways in which an organization demonstrates to its shareholders that the appropriate strategies for risk mitigation are in place have not yet been crystallized.
