I served in the military... Go by this order to narrow selection:
1) Military (Army, Navy, Air Force, etc...) 2) Service Branch 3) Commissioned or Enlisted (Officer, Warrant Officer, Non-Commissioned Officer, Enlisted) 4) Rank (Sgt, Airman, Master Chief, etc...) There is also "pay grade" that is universal scale used to normalize salary rates between Service Branches... "E-1" is the lowest enlisted rank... "O-1" is the lowest commissioned officer rank. Other items to list on a profile might be: service awards, special unit citations, badges, years of service, tours of duty/duty stations, military schools...
