I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with Sarah. Auto fill - is the functionality provided by browser or some 3d party plugins such as Google toolbar. This functionality let's you create personal profile and store some of the frequently used details on your PC (for example: First/Last name, phone numbers, email address etc). Once you arrive at a web page that gathers such details, the browser (or Google toolbar in our example) recognize this, and colors the fields that can be "auto filled" in other color (by default - pale yellow) to let you know that you can use the auto fill option.
The Type Ahead functionality is similar to Sarah's example, but by default it wouldn't include any additional popups/windows/menus. The classic example - is Google search. When you type in your keyword, the system automatically pulls up options that may be relevant for your search. These are different behaviors and may be used together if you have long list of options that do not appear in your user profile and thus cannot be auto filled. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
