Hi, I just left a design review meeting in which the product owner said the design presents too much information to the user. She wants the default view (and all screens) to display only what the user wants or needs and make additional functionality available as needed. I agree with this principle and thought I'd already addressed it.
My first response: I need to determine the most frequently used options or most typical tasks. Sure, we can answer this question from user profiles, but the PO was getting at more specific personalization. Two things occurred to me: * This may call for activity-centered design instead of user-centered design * The best approach is an intelligent, adaptive UI that learns from the user's activity and adapts according to user behavior. Can anyone point me to current material on and examples of this kind of knowledge-based support? Thanks, Dave Scharn ________________________________________________________________ Welcome to the Interaction Design Association (IxDA)!
