RIM is seeking Senior Interaction Designers to contribute to defining the next generation of mobile devices and handheld applications. The User Experience organization is a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, designers and engineers, responsible for conceptualizing, exploring, evaluating and specifying the user experience for the BlackBerry platform, devices and services. RESPONSIBILITIES As a senior member of the Interaction Design discipline, the Senior Interaction Designer is expected to demonstrate excellence in the discipline, leadership, strong communication and collaboration, good User-Centered Design processes and a willingness to innovate and take risks. In addition to working with other IxD designers, you will be working closely with Product Management and Development teams. The successful candidate will also: Define and enhance interactions and behaviors for handheld applications as well as for core UI controls and components such as buttons menus, virtual keyboards etc Explore, prototype and evaluate candidate solutions and support their implementation Develop user scenarios, task flows, storyboards and UX specifications Define acceptable performance criteria for core UI interactions ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Graduate or post-graduate degree in a product design related field such as; Interaction or Interface Design, Interactive Media, HCI, Graphic or Industrial Design, or the equivalent experience and training in an area directly relevant to this position, is required. 5 years experience as Interaction Designer with at least 2 years experience developing handheld applications, core UI controls and components A well structured and user centric design methodology Strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills Solid technical understanding of core UI interactions Ability to distill design principles and rationale Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to build relationships across different disciplines ADDITIONAL ASSETS Experience prototyping handheld devices, core UI interactions and applications Experience with software tools such as Visio, OmniGraffle, Balsamiq etc Fluent in graphic/media design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash etc If you're driven to take wireless technologies to the next level, it's time you join the team at RIM.
