Ever notice how . and / are right next to each other on the keyboard? I had 
intended to do a chown -R username:group . while in a users directory, but 
alas, I fat fingered / instead.

After about 10 seconds I realized it was taking longer than it should have and 
realized what I'd done. No matter how much I tried to manually change things 
back to the way they were seemed to help, the system required a re-install.

EVER since then i've been real careful about those two keys. Who put them next 
to each other in the first place! :)
