Guys !,
I must admit that I have not heard of this program/product. I am going to have
to look into it.
Todd Taft said, " It can do backups without requiring any software to be
installed on the backup client (using smb for Windows and rsync for
Linux/Mac/UNIX)." I do believe that the Unix/Linux tools would do the same
type job - dd and tar and they have been around a lot longer and were working
on networks, I believe before rsync techniques.
Nick Webb said, " Or you could use BackupPC if all you really need are the
files... but
since you have some very old OSs in there, my guess is that there is a
reason for it and you would be at a loss if you no longer had a working
Windows 2000 and Windows 3.1.1 computer. " Nick you picked that up correctly.
I would like to in the not to distant future be able to move to all VM, but I
have moved to a project based type business model and in this type mode, you do
not know what you are going to come up against and what your needs are going to
be. Some of what I am looking to address now is automation of Pen-testing and
other security related functions and reporting. I am also pursuing digital
forensics certification and capabilities. In Forensics - a virtual environment
is also a handy tool.
So I am trying to handle my current protection needs of my own systems and also
currently for clients that hire my services. I have to be sure of the tools
that I use and to be able to provide protection for my own work and client's
work with, hopefully a single program.
I hope this sheds some light on the request of mine. If not, just ask.
Regards, Harvey

I would echo the previous comments, use virtual machines for all of these
systems and find a backup solution for the host OS. Then you only needs
To back up the virtual disk images and the VM definition files.

This reads like a crazy certification test question. If this was ServerFault I
would be tempted to mark this as homework :-)
