Seconded, for the most part - I got my N7 a little over a month ago, and I've never had issues w/ it draining the battery after a day or being unable to charge while in use. I've frequently run it down to under 10% and then plugged in and continued using it, without issues. It's possible there are some really intense games or apps that might burn more power than the charger can supply, but I haven't found any (and yes, I do sometimes play games on it, and they're often 3D games that would chew through the battery on my phone in a heartbeat).
Regarding battery drain without use: I lose around 40-50% a day, but I also have multiple apps that auto-sync periodically (pocket, facebook, twitter, scope, press, g+, linkedin, various other apps like weather apps, etc.), plus of course 2 google accounts that are updated regularly via push, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to me. It's definitely not great, but under my normal workload for a day (mostly email, pocket, press, and social, plus live wallpaper and widgets) I'm generally around 20-30% by the time I go to bed, which is good enough for me.
