Y'know, there's a certain amount of truth to that. I've spent way more time discussing three-way-handshakes in interviews than I've ever used it in "practical application". Sure I've used it in the occasional firewall rule and such, but that really doesn't hold a candle to the amount of time I've had to talk about it with candidates and/or interviewers.
