This is my third year training sysadmins. I really enjoy it. I love the
questions about how does it work and will this or that break it? My
sysadmins sometimes find new and different ways to break a product. I
enjoy the creative thinking.
The first major public course I taught was at USENIX ATC two years ago.
I'll never forget it: after each break, there were less students in the
class. 24 at start, 10 or 11 at end. I remember thinking, "Oh, no, it's
melting!" Since then I've worked very hard to make my classes hands on and
engaging. Here is some feedback I got recently:
Aleksey (trainer) was one of the best hands-on teachers
I've experienced in a long time. He is very knowledgeable
about the subject, patient and keeps the class focused. His
course materials including documentation, examples and
exercises were very comprehensive. I certainly could have
gained from his teachings and materials greatly at the onset
of my learning [software X] many months ago.
I know I am on the right track. I really enjoy this kind of work. Doing
private trainings takes me to some unusual and beautiful places.
Thanks for letting me share that.
I really appreciate being part of this community, and being able to
contribute to it.
Yours truly,
-at
